SEMTA appoints new science managerAuthor:Sue Ferns, Created 10/02/2006 15:21:20 SEMTA, the skills council for science and engineering, has appointed a new science strategy manager to oversee its work in the crucial bio science industry.
He is Dr David Winstanley, currently Intellectual Property and Licensing Manager at Sheffield University. He takes up his appointment on February 1.
As well as looking after training strategy for the 60,000 strong bio science sector, Dr Winstanley will also be in charge of the sector's role in SEMTA's Sector Skills Agreement which also covers the automotive, aerospace and electronics sectors.
Lord Trefgarne, SEMTA's chairman, said today: "Dr Winstanley's appointment comes at a crucial time for our bio science sector.
"It is one of the UK's world class sectors, and frequently a world beater, and we at SEMTA are striving to ensure that we have world class workforce in the future to maintain that position."
Dr Winstanley added: "I am very much looking forward to the challenge of working with SEMTA to ensure that Britain retains its leading role in the global bio science sector."
